Following its impressive worldwide box office earnings of $183 million, Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ is set to make a return to Imax screens.

Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” is making a comeback to Imax screens on November 3, offering a one-week exclusive viewing opportunity.

This limited engagement will take place at six Imax 70mm film projection locations across the globe, including four AMC Imax screens in California and New York City, as well as two additional venues in London and Melbourne, Australia. This rare encore run for a Hollywood blockbuster on Imax screens comes on the heels of “Oppenheimer” having already achieved an impressive worldwide gross of over $183 million on these large-format screens.

This remarkable feat positions Nolan’s epic as the fourth highest-grossing Imax release in history. The film, set during World War II, features Cillian Murphy in the role of physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, renowned as the “father of the atomic bomb” for his pivotal involvement in the Manhattan Project.

In addition to its lead star, Cillian Murphy, “Oppenheimer” boasts an ensemble cast including Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., and Florence Pugh. This encore presentation is strategically aimed at the most successful venues worldwide for this blockbuster, a key factor in contributing to Imax’s record-breaking summer in 54 countries and territories, including the United States and China.

The film “Oppenheimer” was captured through the lens of acclaimed cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema, who employed a combination of Imax cameras, Imax 65mm, and 65mm large-format film. This innovative approach also featured the utilization of Imax black and white analog photography.

Christopher Nolan, well-known for his preference for traditional film over digital cinematography, embraced Imax cameras and technologies for this project.

“Oppenheimer” draws its inspiration from the 2005 book “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer” by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin. The film is produced by Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven.

Following its impressive worldwide box office earnings of $183 million, Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ is set to make a return to Imax screens.
